West Chester Basement Remodel with Rec Room, Custom Bar, and Theater

This West Chester basement remodel was designed as a complete lower-level living space, with areas for entertaining, movie nights, games, and everyday use. DMB designed and built the custom bar, cabinetry, counters, walnut doors, trim accents, bathroom, and theater room, creating a finished basement that feels comfortable, polished, and connected from one area to the next.

This project brought together several high-use spaces in one finished lower level: a rec room, theater room, custom bar, bathroom, and game area. The layout keeps everything open and connected while still giving each area its own purpose.

The result is a basement that works for casual family time, hosting friends, watching movies, and making better use of the home’s lower level.

The custom bar is one of the main focal points of the remodel. DMB designed and built the bar structure, cabinetry, counters, and surrounding finish details, while the stonework was completed by Cider Mill Landscapes.

The mix of natural stone, dark cabinetry, warm lighting, and light countertops gives the bar a grounded, finished look that anchors the entire space.

The layout was planned so the bar would not feel isolated from the rest of the basement. From the counter seating, the homeowners and their guests can stay connected to the game area, theater room, and main gathering space.

The long counter provides plenty of room for seating, serving, and casual conversation. Under-cabinet lighting adds warmth to the stonework, while the open sightlines keep the basement feeling spacious and easy to move through.

Beyond the bar and game area, the basement includes a dedicated theater room designed for a more immersive movie-watching experience.

The dark ceiling, recessed lighting, wall sconces, large screen, and deep blue sectional help create a comfortable viewing space that feels separate from the brighter main basement area.
